An Evening of Elegance, Tradition, and Holiday Cheer
Victorian dress encouraged
This December, the halls of Cobalt Manor will once again glow with candlelight and Christmas finery as guests are invited to step back in time for “A Victorian Christmas at Cobalt Manor.” Hosted by Elizabeth Esther Café, this enchanting evening offers a rare opportunity to experience the beauty and nostalgia of a 19th-century Christmas celebration.
The manor, built in 1868, will be adorned in fresh greenery, and the timeless sparkle of the season. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy live holiday music, the comforting aroma of warm mulled wine and hot chocolate, and an array of handcrafted holiday confections prepared in the café’s kitchen. A guided tour of the historic home will share stories of Smyrna’s past and the Bailey family who first called this grand Italianate house their own.

The Spirit of the Season
In true Victorian fashion, guests are invited to raise a glass of spiced mulled wine and savor the warmth of the holidays as they wander through parlors dressed in holly and lace. Each room will capture the charm of a bygone era, offering the perfect setting for conversation, laughter, and the gentle melodies of Christmas carols.
A Keepsake of Christmas Past
As part of the evening’s festivities, guests will be welcomed into The Parlor, where they may create a keepsake to commemorate the evening.
This year’s featured craft is the Dried Orange and Ribbon Ornament—a traditional adornment of the Victorian Christmas tree. In the 1800s, oranges were considered a symbol of prosperity and generosity, often gifted during the holidays to express goodwill and gratitude.
Guests will fashion their own ornaments using dried orange slices, fragrant Star of Anise, creating a piece that is as aromatic as it is beautiful. Each ornament serves as a fragrant reminder of the evening—one that can be hung upon the tree or displayed at home as a token of timeless elegance.

An Invitation to Step Back in Time
A Victorian Christmas at Cobalt Manor is more than an event—it is an experience steeped in tradition, artistry, and hospitality. Whether you come for the history, the music, or the joy of a warm winter gathering, you will leave with the feeling that you’ve touched a piece of Christmas past.
